Raleigh Lineman Jobs

Duke Energy Progress runs the distribution grid under Raleigh, and Wake County growth keeps feeder rebuilds, underground work, and storm response steady across the Triangle. Reported Raleigh lineman pay averages $86,400 a year, and North Carolina is a right-to-work state, so most Triangle line work runs non-union through the utility or a contractor. Class A CDL is a common requirement on line truck and bucket truck roles here.

Nearby Hiring Hubs

Cary, Durham, Apex, and Garner post off the same crews and dispatch yards, so widen your search past the Raleigh city line. Hurricane season runs June through November and drives most of the region's storm pay; inland ice events pull crews out in winter. Contractors here hire faster than the utility, so most people start as a groundman with a contractor while chasing a Duke apprenticeship. Raleigh Lineman FAQ

How much do linemen make in Raleigh?

Raleigh lineman pay averages $86,400 annually, and storm callouts during hurricane season push journeyman earnings well above that. Compare it against the state-by-state pay guide.

Is Raleigh line work union?

North Carolina is a right-to-work state and Triangle line work is largely non-union, so Duke Energy Progress and the contractors set their own scales. If you want an organized route, use the IBEW local finder to check outside jurisdiction before you sign a book.

Do I need a CDL for Raleigh lineman jobs?

Most Raleigh line truck and bucket truck postings expect a North Carolina Class A CDL, and contractors will often hire you as a groundman while you test for it. Review the Class A CDL and DOT card requirements first.
