Your Way In
Most Utah linemen start as groundmen with a contractor or a co-op and climb from there. If you want the union route, IBEW Local 57 covers outside line work across most of the state; use the IBEW local finder to confirm the book before you sign it. Non-union apprentices typically enter through an employer-sponsored program, so read the apprenticeship programs by state guide first.
